Neighborhood Spotlight | Volume 1

Neighborhood Spotlight | Volume 1

I was born and raised in Georgia. From ITP (Chamblee) to Roswell and then back to Canton & Woodstock after college.

Although I have neighborhoods that I would call my “comfort cities” (Marietta > Kennesaw > Woodstock > Canton + Roswell > Alpharetta > Cumming), I will gladly go where the business is! Whereas I know it would be impossible to be an expert in all areas of town, I at least want to get a better feel for the places my clients are buying and selling. So, as easy as it would have been to start the neighborhood spotlight with one of my comfort cities, I chose to start with a neighborhood that is fairly new to me, but has recently grabbed my attention. Drumroll please…Smyrna, Georgia!

Now that SunTrust Park has moved up to what some would call “the burbs” and more and more shops, boutique restaurants and parks are going in, I think this area has a ton of potential. With options to buy a home with Cobb County taxes and plenty of places to go and things to see, I could see this town starting to get a lot more street cred in the years to come! Did you know that Smyrna also ranked in the top 25 Best Atlanta Suburbs for Families in 2017? Check out the full list here.

Speaking of SunTrust Park, have you been to The Battery yet? This is not your average entrance to a baseball stadium, folks! This place is over the top. With great dining options, places to shop, live music and entertainment for adults and kids alike, this new Eat | Play | Live community has created a place where people can not only go before and after games, but also enjoy in the off-season! An annual Braves game is a must, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this new stadium ups the frequency anty! I am so proud to call this the new Braves Country and I can’t wait to watch our son as he grows up playing and watching baseball there!

[I could probably write a whole blog on SunTrust Park/The Battery but this guy did a great job of covering the highlights so if you want to learn a little more, click here]

I don’t know about you, but I am a SUCKER for a rooftop bar! If I’m speaking your language, check out Creatwood Tavern, where good food meets rooftop bar. Did I mention they also provide a FREE shuttle to and from Braves games for anyone who can show a receipt from that day? Sounds like a win-win, if you ask me!

Next up, Market Village! Right on the outskirts of the beautiful downtown area, is another great place to grub and shop! The next best thing to a rooftop bar is an outdoor patio and amazing atmosphere. Am I right? All of which can be found at Atkins Park. Enjoy some shopping and don’t forget to try the pizza from Zucca and hop on over to the bar side late night!

Did you know Smyrna is also getting ready to open their very own version of Ponce City Market? Check out the plans for Riverview here. I have a feeling this mixed-use development will not disappoint!

If you are one for the outdoors, there is more than enough for you too! Go hiking and kayaking along the Chattahoochee and don’t forget to hop on over to the Silver Comet Trail for a few adventures while you’re at it!

Last but not least, enjoy a little seasonal fun at Taylor-Brawner Park as Smyrna introduces their very own Food Truck Tuesday! Going on now through September, you can enjoy a variety of food trucks, live music and plenty of room for the kids to run and play while you soak it all in.

Considering a move to Smyrna? I would love to share a little more with you about what I found during my neighborhood spotlight research and help you find the perfect place to call HOME!
