A ship is always safe at shore…

“A ship is always safe at shore, but that’s not what ships are made for” – Albert Einstein

Our dog, Gamble, is all of a sudden terrified to go outside in our fenced in back yard. I’m pretty sure she got stung by a bee but trying to give her the confidence to get back outside and back to enjoying the freedom and sunshine has not been easy. Honestly, it’s starting to make me a little sad! She loves it back there and she is letting fear keep her from doing what she loves! Being the thinker that I am, this made me think of how many times we let fear keep us from doing something! Fear of failure. Fear of losing site of the shore to pursue a dream that may seem “too big” or even worse, ignoring something that may be our calling! As a wife and new mommy who has recently decided to lose site of the shore, I have felt that gripping fear but have also had the opportunity to remind myself that with God, anything is possible. Maybe this dream of ours is bigger than anything we can do. But it’s not too big for Him. I’m determined to find joy in the journey and will continue to pray that God will keep me fearless through this transition! I want Banks to look at his parents one day and see what we have done with our lives and realize that he too can do anything he sets his mind to. Sure we may fail, but the only true failure is running back to shore! Now, how do I tell my dog this?

{Hebrews 12:1 – Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.}
